Jacques Willett (Russian/American 1882-1958) Expressionist Seascape at Sunset with Boat, Signed (c. 1905, Oil on Canvas). New England Coast with crashing waves and rocks in the foreground and boats along the horizon in the background. Beautiful somber red tones along the back side of the rocks. Housed in gilt frame. Original metal label with name and title attached to the center of frame. Signed in the lower left corner. In good condition with wear consistent with age. Wear is present on the frame with scuffs and scratches. Repair/patch to the top center quandrant of canvas. Please refer to photos for details.

Jaques I. Willett was born in Petrograd, Russia in 1882. He studied at the Imperial Academy of Art in Petrograd and also studied for a time in Munich and Paris. He was a member of Allied Art Association, the Brooklyn Society of Artists and the Society of Independent Artists. He exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. His work is in the collection of the Newark Museum and University of Chicago. Willett died on May 19, 1958.
