Vintage Japanese Modernist Biomorphic Glazed Ceramic Vessel, Signed. Modernist half circle shaped ceramic vessel with a round column footing. The heavy footing/pedestal allows for a more substantial branch or flower arraignment without tipping over. Can be used on its side or standing upright. Signed on the bottom. In good condition with wear consistent with age. Light discoloration and soft scuffs are present. Three small marks in the glaze on the back upper section (the patina makes us think this was done during the firing process rather than damage). Refer to photos for details. The last two photos are of the piece in daylight.
Size: 10”H x 8”W x 7”D
Provenance: private ikebana collector. The previous owner lived in Japan for over 20 years and was a collector of Japanese ceramics (and an accomplished Ikebana artist).
