Vintage 1939 Acoma Polychrome Deer Heart-line Design Olla. Buff-colored clay with white slip polychrome olla. The exterior of the olla has painted deer with the heart-line design, a spiritual symbol associated with many activities, such as asking the gods for a successful hunt and a wish for a peaceful death. ‘Acoma N. Mex’ us written in the bottom of the jar. A letter written by the original owner describes buying this piece from a little girl in Acoma Pueblo in 1939. Letter is included. In good condition with wear consistent with age. Chips and paint loss are present. Please refer to photos for details.
