Pre-Columbian Polychrome Chancay Cuchimilco ‘Star Gazer’ Ceramic Figure (ca 1200-1470 CE). From the pre-Inca Chancay culture of central coastal Peru. Cuchimilcos have always been found as burial offerings in tombs or even within the wrappings of Chancay mummies, possibly serving as helpers of the dead in the afterlife. The figures are typically frontal facing and symmetrical with both arms extended out or up, which indicate a welcoming posture. In used condition with paint loss and minor chips are present. Stand is not included.
