Vintage Modernist Female Torso Plaster Maquette Sculpture on Stand (ca. 1950). Small maquette sculpture in a textured plaster with nails throughout. Typically nails (or more specifically the nail holes) are used as a method to transfer the proportions of a plaster model to a block of stone. Maquettes in a way are the sculpture artist’s sketches. In used condition with a small crack at the breast nail. Wear is present around the back. Discoloration around the nail holes. The stand is used more as added support as the sculpture can stand on it’s own without. For shipping purposes the stand will be separate from the sculpture.
