Hand Forged Iron Mumuye Snake Torch Currency on Custom Stand
Hand Forged Iron Mumuye Snake Torch Currency on Custom Stand. These metal objects were used as currency for many years between tribes. The torch shape was created by forged iron strands twisted into a snake head shape. This one is peculiar as the torch itself is quite closed leading to a top where the heads end up looking at each other rather than splaying outward. The currency is rusted with a reddish purple hue. In used condition with rust and some wear to stand. Please review photos for details.
