The Sun and The Moon typifies Engström’s bold, memorable aesthetic. We can feel a hint of influence from the vivid colors of Henri Matisse, while her work also explodes with the same female energy as paintings by Georgia O'Keeffe and Camilla's compatriot, Hilma Af Klint. This piece has a strongly meditative feel, leading our eye on a gentle journey across the conceptualized idyllic landscape and mystical sky which contains the eponymous celestial bodies in soothing confluence. The archival pigment print edition is printed on Hahnemuhle hemp paper to maintain the synthesis with ideas of nature.

Camilla Engström (b.1989 in Örebro, Sweden) currently lives in Los Angeles after periods of working in Shanghai and New York City. Her work is dominated by paintings of imagined landscapes that celebrate the healing properties of Mother Nature. Recent solo exhibitions include sold-out shows at Carl Kostyál, Stockholm and Over The Influence Gallery, Los Angeles. She has an upcoming solo exhibition in November 2021 with Over The Influence Gallery in Hong Kong.
